Moving into Week 5

It has been another very eventful week in Year 1! The children have finished presenting their Keynote presentations to the class detailing the future form of transport that they designed and created for our 'Going Places' unit of inquiry. If you haven’t already done so, please ask your child to share their Keynote presentation with the family so that you can admire their excellent work. Students’ models are on display in the common area outside the Year 1 classrooms, come along and view them and be impressed by their creativity!

Another reminder that iPads must come to school fully charged each day. At this point in the year we are now using the iPads for longer sessions. If a student’s iPad is flat they are unable to complete the set task in the allocated time and this can cause them great distress. At this age it is unrealistic for students to independently remember to charge their iPad each night, so we ask that you please prompt them to make sure that this happens.

Please note that during Terms 2 and 3 all students are required to wear their blazer to and from school, as the outer garment of their Winter uniform. ‘To and from school’ means they must wear their blazer on arrival to their classroom each morning and on leaving their classroom each afternoon. When wearing their Sports uniform to school, tracksuit pants and sports jacket must be worn as the outer garments. Students may wear their sports shorts under their tracksuit pants if they wish to change throughout the day.

Next week we begin our ‘How we express ourselves’ unit of inquiry titled ‘Magical Tales’. For Show and Share over the next two weeks, students have been asked to bring in a book of a favourite fairy-tale, fable or tale to share with the class. They need to identify and explain the characters in the story, what the problem is and how it is resolved.

1M will be performing a short presentation at next week’s Primary Assembly on Tuesday 20th May. Please feel free to attend, the children are very excited to share their learning.

Have a wonderful weekend!
