Sharing cultures

The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit by Boonwurrung elder Fay Stewart-Muir on Wednesday, as part of our ‘Magical Tales’ unit of inquiry and National Reconciliation Week. Fay presented indigenous stories and talked about her culture. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience how stories are used by different cultures to inform. The students were all offered the opportunity to sign the Close The Gap pledge wall here at the school, to show that they want to learn more about indigenous culture.

Thank you for ensuring students are wearing their uniform correctly to and from school – they have all been looking very smart in both their Winter and Sport uniforms!

Please ensure your child now has all of the Term 2 apps downloaded onto their iPad. There are several students who are still missing many of the apps. Please refer to the App List page on the blog. Thank you to everyone who has already done this.

There will be no Show and Share in Week 7. We will be using this time to help the students prepare for their next summative assessment task.

Another reminder to any interested parents who would like to visit your child’s classroom to read and translate a story from another culture. We would love to have your input!

Have a great weekend!
