What a great
adventure we all had on our Melbourne excursion this week! It was a wonderful
opportunity for the children to experience travelling on several of the modes
of transport that we have been researching. Many of the students experienced
travelling on new modes of transport for the very first time. A big thank you
to all of the parent helpers who assisted us on this day – we could not have done
it without you!
The Mother’s Day
Stall is on next Thursday 8th May. Each student is able to bring a
maximum amount of $10 to purchase a small gift. The Prep – Year 2 Mother’s Day
Afternoon Tea will take place next Friday 9th May. Please meet your
child at their classroom at 2:15pm. We will then proceed to the Sustainability Centre for
afternoon tea. Then we will enjoy an afternoon stroll (weather permitting)
around the property, so please wear appropriate footwear. If the weather is
wet, we will have some shared reading time in your child’s classroom. The children are looking forward to
sharing and enjoying this special time with their mums!
Thank you to all
of those families who have donated recycled materials. We are still gratefully
accepting donations, please give them to your child’s classroom teacher.
A reminder that
each student requires a pair of gumboots at school. Please bring these in as
soon as possible. It is compulsory for all students to wear their Winter
uniform from Week 3 (Monday 5th May). Please note that the correct
uniform for girls is a white skivvy or a white long sleeve shirt with school
tie. (Refer to page 5 of your child’s Record Book for correct Winter Uniform
details.)
Over the next few
weeks the Year 1s will be performing short presentations at Primary Assembly,
to share what they have been learning. 1S is presenting in Week 3 on Tuesday 6th
May and 1M is presenting in Week 5 on Tuesday 20th May. Please feel
free to attend on the relevant date if you are available. The students are very
excited about sharing their learning with others!
Show and Share for
Week 3 will remain as a holiday focus. Students are invited to share another
memorable experience from their holidays and may also bring in photos or an
object to talk about if they would like to.
